Flipping the Switch

As I was drinking my tea this morning I began to think about how enjoyable it was. Not for it's taste. It was actually not very good tasting at all, and I was still enjoying every steamy sip. I knew it was benefitting my body and that made it enjoyable to me. After a few months of being super busy and not being as healthy as I usually am, I realized at that moment that I had flipped the switch.
How do we flip the switch in our mind that takes us from eating and drinking for enjoyment to eating and drinking for nourishment? It begins with the realization that an over indulgence or lack of nourishment is taking place. Simple enough, right? You have to realize that you aren't eating well or that you're eating too much to make a change.
After you realize that there's an issue you have to become actively aware of what you're putting in your body. You're not going to be able to make the necessary changes if you don't know what's going into your body in the first place. For example, my tea was a blend of spices, leaves, roots, leaves and tree barks. I added honey, lemon, ceylon cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Without knowing the benefits of these ingredients this sounds quite unappealing. Yet, knowing the benefits made it good to me. I'm eating to live and not living to eat. The opposite aspect of this speculation is blindly putting things into your body because they taste good. Do you know what's in the food you eat? If you don't you can start learning by simply reading ingredient labels. If something doesn't sound familiar look it up! Chances are that it's not very good. This is a great way to start your research for better health. Give your body what it needs to operate at it's full potential.
Now is the perfect time to implement some positive lifestyle changes. The effects of the full moon are still present which means it's a time of great energy. Start today and focus on nourishing and being aware of what you eat and you will feel a great influx of energy and appreciation for your body.  Proper nutrition can transform your entire life!
